NEW LARIMER COUNTY CHILD CARE STUDY!

In the Spring of 2010, ECCLC commissioned a local child care impact study. Both families and employers were surveyed to determine how many families are using child care, the challenges families face in obtaining child care and the impact of child care on both families and businesses.

A quick look at study findings

An estimated 35% of families in Larimer County use child care

In 2003, 19% of the children in care were in care 40 hours per week or more. In 2010, this percentage increased to nearly 37%.

Only 6.7% of employers reported that their employees missed work due to child care issues, while 68.6% of parents surveyed reported that they missed work due to child care issues (not including days taken off to care for sick children).
